Joseph Thornton Injured in a Crash on July 6, 2017 in Clay County, Iowa

Joseph Robert Thornton of Emmetsburg, Iowa was injured in a crash on Thursday, July 6th 2017 at 10:14 am in Clay County, Iowa. Thornton is 57-years-old.
The police described the crash like this:
VEHICLE ONE (THE 2005 CHEVROLET UPLANDER DRIVEN BY VICKIE THORNTON) WAS TRAVELLING EASTBOUND ON HWY 18 AND WAS ENTERING THE INTERSECTION CR RD N14. THE DRIVER OF VEHICLE TWO (THE 1991 CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK DRIVEN BY MICHAEL MITCHELL) WAS TRAVELLING SB ON N14 AND WAS SLOWING FOR THE STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION WITH HWY 18 WHEN HIS BRAKES FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ENTER THE INTERSECTION. THE DRIVER OF VEHICLE ONE TRIED TO VEER OFF TO THE SOUTHWEST TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH VEHICLE TWO, BUT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID THE COLLISION. THE TWO VEHICLES COLLIDED.

The crash injured Thornton. Thornton was not taken to the hospital.
Vehicle Damage
Vickie Thornton, age 55, from Emmetsburg, Iowa was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. It was towed. Michael Mitchell, age 60, from Estherville, Iowa was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Pickup Truck.
